Necktie Gallery

 

The photograph above shows some of the ties that have been created by Mertel the Turtle Fabric Arts. Many of them are for sale. These ties are one-of-a-kind pieces and cannot be repeated or mass produced. As new ties are created, their photographs will be posted. Please view the necktie gallery HERE.

• The method used to make them is called sublimation dye printing. Special crayons and dyes are applied to large sheets of paper in a variety of ways, creating layers of texture and color. Once there is a sufficient library of papers, they are combined into collages and then cut to approximate the shape and length of a tie.
• A heat press is then used to transfer each collage onto a white tie, making a permanent print on the cloth. It is recommended that the ties be dry-cleaned.
