TEACHING

Jacobs was invited to teach the disperse dye method of fabric
printing for a week at the Convent
of the Sacred Heart (CSH)
in Greenwich, CT. She taught students in elementary, middle
and high school and conducted gallery talks. Students worked
for a few weeks before Jacobs came to the school, using oil
pastels and watercolors, to practice the technique of printing
with disperse dyes. They were able to make monoprints and collages,
resulting in some stunning and original images. The experience
was extremely rewarding for Jacobs and the students at this
private school. The art teachers at CSH will be taking one
finished piece from each student and fashioning them into Tibetan
prayer flags, to be displayed in the school's light-filled,
glass stairway, and much of the student work will be on display
at the opening of Jacobs' show on Dec. 3, 2009.
