Above
are photographs of some special projects that Mertel the Turtle
Fabric Arts has done. The batik
lunch bags
were
commissioned by a colleague who was moving back to India. She asked
that the lunch bags reflect
Indian culture. The project included mostly Indian motifs but also
included graphic ideas from Africa, Japan, Mexico and paintings
by Australian Aboriginal people. Click on the photograph to see
more.
The batik
wall hangings were commissioned after the lunch bag project
and were based upon similar sources. Click on the photograph for
more.
Mertel the Turtle Fabric Arts has been asked to create stamps for
other people, either for their business or a party invitation or
to use to decorate stationery. These are some examples. Click on
the photograph for others.
The nesting
boxes shown were painted with India ink and then stamped
and embossed with stamps that were carved by Mertel the Turtle Fabric
Arts.
If you are interested
in commissioning a similar kind of project, please contact Mertel
the Turtle Fabric Arts and we will discuss your
ideas.
